Eligibility Criteria for WBSSC SLST Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2025

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply. The educational qualifications vary slightly for the two categories of teaching posts:

➤ For Assistant Teachers (Classes IX & X)

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Graduation/Post Graduation with at least 50% marks in either (or equivalent)
    • B.Ed. from an NCTE recognized institution
    • OR a 4-year B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed. from an NCTE recognized institution
  • Age Limit:
    • Minimum: 21 years
    • Maximum: 40 years as of 01.01.2025
    • Relaxation:
      • SC/ST: 5 years
      • OBC: 3 years
      • PH: 8 years
      • Other relaxations as per court order dated 03.04.2025

➤ For Assistant Teachers (Classes XI & XII)

  • Educational Qualification:

    • B.Ed. from an NCTE recognized institution
    • OR Post Graduate with at least 50% marks + B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed. (integrated degree)
  • Age Criteria: Same as above

> Note: 5% relaxation in marks for reserved categories. Educational qualifications must be attained on or before the last date of online application submission.

Medium of Instruction

Candidates must have passed the relevant language (e.g., Bengali, English, Hindi, Urdu, etc.) at an appropriate academic level if applying to teach in that medium. Applicants can apply under only one medium of instruction for both IX-X and XI-XII levels.

WBSSC SLST 2025 Selection Process

The recruitment of West Bengal Assistant Teachers for Classes IX–X and XI–XII in Government Aided/Sponsored Schools will be conducted through a three-stage selection process as per the Rules, 2025:

1️⃣ Written Examination

  • Examination Mode: Offline (OMR-based)
  • Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Language: English and Bengali (except for language subjects)
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Each question carries 1 mark
