OBC Scholarship Assam 2024: The OBC Scholarship is one of the most effective educational scholarships provided by the Government of India. The government is inviting applications from eligible students from Other Backward Classes (OBC). This scholarship is referred to as the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Scholarship Scheme. Applications for this scheme are accepted through the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

OBC Scholarship Assam Eligibility Criteria

This OBC Scholarship Scheme allows applicants from two categories to submit their applications. The two categories are pre-Matric and post-Matric. Eligibility criteria differ between the two categories. The category-specific eligibility criteria are as follows.

Pre-Matric Scholarship: Students who are studying in Class 10th or below fall under the Pre-Matric Scholarship category. This means students from Class 1 to Class 10 need to submit their applications under the Pre-Matric Scholarship category.

Post-Matric Scholarship: Students who are studying in Class 11th or above must apply under the Post-Matric Scholarship category. In other words, students pursuing Higher Secondary, Graduation, Post-Graduation, and other higher education programs should apply under this category.

Annual Family Income: Candidates whose annual family income is less than 2.50 Lakh are eligible for this scholarship scheme.

Note: Only those students who have a valid OBC certificate are eligible for this scholarship scheme. Without a valid caste certificate, the application will be rejected. How to Apply for OBC Scholarship?

Beginning with the 2024-25 session, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has implemented a One-Time Registration (OTR) approach for students. As a result, the process for submitting online applications for the OBC Scholarship has been updated and divided into two stages. The first phase requires students to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). In the second round, students will use their OTR ID to apply for the scholarship.

One Time Registration (OTR)

In the first phase, students must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR), which is now available on the portal. After completing the One-Time Registration (OTR), students will be given an OTR ID. This unique OTR ID will allow them to apply for multiple scholarships. It’s worth noting that each student will only receive one OTR ID, which is generated specifically for them.

Requirement for OTR: Candidates will need to have an active mobile number.

Aadhaar Requirement: Aadhaar is required for completing the One-Time Registration (OTR). If the student has not been assigned an Aadhaar number, they can finish the registration procedure using their Enrollment ID (EID). Minor students who have not yet been assigned an Aadhaar can register using their parent’s or legal guardian’s Aadhaar number.

eKYC: Completing eKYC is a required step for obtaining NSP OTR. Students can complete their eKYC face authentication using the NSP OTR app, which is available on the Google Play store.

OBC Scholarship Application Form

Students who have obtained their One-Time Registration (OTR) ID will be able to submit applications for various scholarship schemes, including the OBC Scholarship. As of now, the application process for any scholarship has not commenced under the revised procedure. Therefore, our knowledge about the application process is limited. We will update this section with relevant details only after the official notification is issued, as the application procedure has been changed starting this year.

OBC Scholarship Selection Process

All qualified Other Backward Class candidates will be awarded scholarships based on the eligibility criteria outlined in Paragraph III of the scheme’s official notification. Candidates from one state who are studying in another state will be awarded scholarships by the state to which they belong, and they must submit their applications to the authorized authorities in their home state. In terms of fee exemptions and other benefits, these applicants will be treated as if they were studying in their home state.
