Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma, the Chief Minister of Assam, has launched a welfare scheme for the state’s female students. The name of this scheme is Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina, also known as the Assam MMNM Scheme, under which the government of Assam provides financial assistance to girl child students pursuing higher education.
Under the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme, ten lakh girls will get financial grants as admission incentives for higher education. This scheme was created as part of an initiative to prevent child marriage in the state by providing a reason for them to pursue higher education. The state government has allocated Rs. 240 crore for this scheme in the Assam Budget 2024.
